Mario De Vita, M A R R, is an Italian instrumentalist and singer/songwriter, currently based in England. His classical and jazz background combined with his passion for rock and pop allow M A R R to approach music with an alternative and unique style.
After studying for several years with Maestro Rino Zurzolo and Maestro Luca Pirozzi at “Conservatorio Statale di Musica Nicola Sala” in Benevento (on classical double bass and electric bass), he applied and eventually joined the BMus Jazz music course at the “Royal Birmingham Conservatoire” in Birmingham (electric bass).
In 2012 he took part in a masterclass for songwriting with singer/songwriter Pier Cortese and since then he has developed a strong passion for music composition, particularly for what concerns the rock and pop music sphere. He started writing his own compositions and recorded his first song with the band “Sambuka” in 2014 as part of an album compilation, playing guitar and singing. He collaborated with Folk artist Ivan Romano for almost 3 years as a double and electric bass player, recording songs as a session bassist and playing live shows for almost 3 years, before moving to the UK.
During his Conservatoire experience in the UK, Mario started playing piano and experimenting more with harmony and the structure of his songs. He started writing more experimental material recording his EP “Emptiness in a Room” for his solo project “DEMA” in 2019.
Since 2021 he has taught as a private online/in-person bass tutor with some longtime active students from young teenagers to young adults.
He has developed to become a versatile jazz and pop/rock musician, currently playing in his band “Cosmedia”, who have just recorded and released their first two singles and a full-length album.
